About Big Town Hicks

Barbara Grether is the digital artist behind Big Town Hicks. After several years of military service, followed by a career in graphic design, Barbara is following her artistic dreams. Using her photography as a canvas, she weaves in color, light and texture to bring scenes from her imagination to life.

“Composite photography and digital manipulation are ways for me to use the skillset I honed as a graphic designer to create "painterly" art. I think of my photos as the canvas, and software as my paintbrushes. Like a traditional artist, I attempt to communicate on canvas what I see or feel or imagine.”
